HOMEMADE BANANA PUDDING MILKSHAKES ARE BETTER!
Recently, my good friend and neighbor was reminiscing about how much she LOVED Zaxby's Banana Pudding Milkshakes. She went on and on about how good Zaxby's banana pudding milkshakes were and she was so sad they don't have them anymore. She said they used real bananas and the little cookie chunks were here favorite part.WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN A BANANA PUDDING MILKSHAKE?
I kept the ingredients pure and simple in this banana pudding milkshake recipe. I wanted the banana and cookies to shine through, but I didn't want any one flavor to dominate. Bananas can be a strong flavor, so I was careful with the amount of banana I used in relation to the cookies and ice cream.- Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - I tried several different ice cream brands before settling on a favorite. The clear winner that produced the best results is Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.
- Milk - I add a splash of whole milk for a creamy consistency that's not too thick and not too thin
- Ripe Banana - I recommend using one medium sized ripe banana in this banana milkshake recipe. If you find you would like more banana flavor you can always add more, but be careful and add just a little at a time.
- Nilla Wafers - I use the MINI Nilla Wafers. I like adding some whole cookies on top for garnish, so the mini wafers are better for that. NOTE: If you use the regular sized Nilla Wafers, be sure to reduce the amount you add to the milkshake.
- Whipped cream - Top this banana pudding milkshake with a big dollop of whipped cream. Homemade whipped cream is best, but this is such a quick and easy recipe, I opted for store bought.
- Caramel - I LOVE a drizzle of caramel on everything, and I highly recommend it here! Lining the rim with caramel and dipping in crushed cookies is optional, but so much fun, why not go for it!
HOW TO MAKE BANANA PUDDING MILKSHAKES
Making a banana pudding milkshake is super easy to do in a blender. So easy, I even made these up and served them at a party in smaller glasses. Everyone loves banana pudding and making it into a milkshake couldn't be easier! It's the perfect southern dessert!- Put the ice cream, milk, banana, and Nilla Wafers into the pitcher of a blender and blend until creamy.
- Pour into serving glasses and top with a big dollop of whipped cream.
- Garnish with more cookie crumbles and a drizzle of caramel.
- Optional: Dip the rims of the serving glasses into caramel and then into crushed cookies for an extra special treat!
