A Graduation Ice Cream Cake from Baskin-Robbins is a deliciously convenient way to celebrate such a momentous event! Baskin-Robbins has a Cap & Diploma Cake which makes ordering easy. I was pleased I was able to order it custom decorated in the school colors with a personalized message too! How great is that?! I think it turned out pretty perfect!
In addition to the cap & diploma, the cake is adorned with rose buds, a tasty chocolate drizzle, and an irresistible fudge border! The inside is custom too! We were able to choose from a wide variety of ice cream flavors to make our special cake exactly how we love it!
Don and I wanted to surprise our graduate with this special treat, but we had no idea what flavors to get on the inside! Even though Baskin-Robbins has convenient online ordering, we decided a trip to our neighborhood store was in order to do some taste testing. It was the perfect excuse to go eat some ice cream!
Baskin-Robbins has 31 flavors from which to choose, and I think we tasted most of them! We were like kids in a candy shop! We ultimately decided to go with the classic combo of chocolate cake and OREO® Cookies 'n Cream ice cream. A real winner! Although, I'm sure we couldn't make a bad choice. I mean it's cake and ice cream, y'all! Together in one special dessert! What could be wrong with that?
Baskin-Robbins makes ordering a cake super easy! The online ordering guides you through the process of customizing your cake, and you can pick it up 24 hours later! It's true!! Our custom cake was ready and waiting for us the next day! Amazing!
If you've been reading my updates over the past couple months, you already know that our baby recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Don and I couldn't be more proud. Madison worked her tail off these past 4 years for this accomplishment, and we are excited to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Graduation weekend in Savannah was amazing! We attended 2 separate graduation ceremonies on graduation day. The Presidential Conferment of Degrees ceremony started our day. All of the graduates attended and John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios was the distinguished guest speaker. Mr. Lasseter definitely sent these graduates off into the world with an inspiring speech. It was a real treat!
The finale was another special treat! The song Geronimo belted out while ribbons dropped from seemingly out of nowhere! Everyone gasped at the sight of aerial performers gracefully dancing above while confetti burst into the air and lighted spheres bounced around the graduates. It was truly spectacular!
After the first ceremony we gathered with friends at our vacation rental to celebrate! We enjoyed some good eats and, of course, the celebratory cake! We chatted about how wonderful the ceremony was and talked about where the girls are going from here. It was a deliciously relaxing way to spend the time before we needed to head out to the next event.
The second ceremony was when our baby girl walked across the stage to receive her degree. What a proud moment it was. I was so overcome I almost forgot to hit the record button on the camera!! I missed her name being called, but we know her name anyway, so it's all good...
After all the graduates walked across the stage, we headed outside for pictures and to say some goodbyes. Graduation is a bittersweet time. We are sad to see Madison's time at SCAD come to an end, but we are excited for what the future holds.
And then we ate more cake!
After all the graduation festivities were over, we had to switch gears and start packing! The day after graduation we moved Madison out of her dorm and she packed up her things for her trip to Hong Kong! She was one of only two students chosen from the Graphic Design department to go on a Cultural Experience trip courtesy of the college, and she was leaving the very next day in the wee hours!
In addition to creating an exhibit of their work at the SCAD Hong Kong campus, the students and professors took in the sites and experienced the culture of Hong Kong. They also attended the SCAD Hong Kong graduation ceremony as special guests. Madison, being home-schooled, had never participated in the pomp and circumstance of a graduation ceremony before this year, and now she's walked that stage twice in one week! We all got a kick out of that!
Madison is pictured here at the Hong Kong graduation with one of her professors and the other graphic design student chosen for the trip. Both at the top of their class, Danielle and Madison have had classes together since the beginning when they met in their Intro to Graphic Design class. If you are in need of a talented designer you can view their work and learn more about them on their websites: dtorrvis.com and madscreates.com.
The whirlwind that is a day in the life of Mads doesn't stop when she gets home from this trip of a lifetime! She'll have a day to rest up and try to acclimate herself back to our time zone before she heads off to her new adventure as a Project Management intern for an advertising agency. Don and I look forward to watching this next chapter of her life as it unfolds. I'm sure she will make it great.
WHEW! Our weekend attending the SCAD Graduation festivities was a busy one! I think we need to go back to Baskin-Robbins for more cake! Father's Day is this weekend, after all!
